Week 1, 1/27/2025-2/2/2025: Sabrina Carpenter & Utah Hockey Club
This past week has been filled with snow here in Buffalo and the first full week of classes is still pretty slow so I had some time to kill. My latest obsession has been Sabrina Carpenter. It started more or less as a joke with her being at the top of my celebrity crush list. As a consequence of that she began to fill my Instagram, the increased exposure to her naturally only grew my affinity for her. Finally I decided I ought to listen to her, I started with Short 'n Sweet which I, to my own surprise, immediately loved. That was a few weeks ago but this week I finally got around to listening to Emails I Can't Send as per the suggestion of friend of the blog Ty. Also a big hit. I've been listening to it for the better part of the week. My favorite song off it is Tornado Warnings which I just can't seem to get enough of. There has been plenty of Short 'n Sweet in there, this week in particular has been Coincidence and Sharpest Tool.
With my first Bills season coming to and end last Sunday I have found the need for something to fill the Josh Allen sized hole in my heart. I wish I can say I was surprised at how things ended but the only thing that was a surprise was how good Tyler Bass was. I think he out preformed Allen in that game. But nonetheless the season is over. I'm really looking forward to the start of the baseball season. I've loosely followed before whilst rooting against the Mets but now I'm excited to actually follow the Nats. But there is some time until that starts so I've turned to hockey to fill the gap. To my surprise I've actually been getting into it with some help from friend of the blog Ali giving me a crash course so I actually have a decent idea of what's going on. Originally my arbitrary choice of team was the Oilers because I liked the name but I was informed that they were doing quite well so to avoid looking like a bandwagon I auditioned other teams. The Senators had a good chance but the Utah Hockey Club proved the winner. I do love the name, I hope they don't change it even though I know they will (of the names currently in the mix my favorite other than sticking with Club is Mammoth), but I also rather like the idea that this is their first year of the Utah team. It will be cool to in ten years be able to say I was a fan since their first season, even if they're awful. Right now my favorite player is Kesselring and thats because he is the only name I know in the entire NHL for now. The only reason I remember his name is because it stuck out to me as the name was shared by a Nazi general sooooo... Anyhoo, go club go!!!
